Hey everyone! If you update to the latest version of the app (v100), you'll find a new keyboard shortcut within preferences to screenshot the same area. Pressing this shortcut will instantly screenshot the same area as last time, so you can quickly re-capture your screen without having to click and drag each time. Let us know what you think!

Capture same area

Marty
I often find myself taking screenshots of the same area when preparing for a meeting. I take a screenshot of a part of a window in an analytics application, then drill down and take another screenshot, and so forth. Instead of always selecting the same area, I would like to be able to have a keyboard shortcut to capture the same area and keep it in the clipboard (Greenshot has this functionality and I think this is one of the best functions).

This is my most loved feature on another tool!
Perfect when you need to take a partial screenshot to copy&paste in your slide. All images with the same size!

Luigi Fugaro: Makes total sense. If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the other tool? Thank you!
Luigi Fugaro
Youcef Es-skouri: It’s CloudApp

Luigi Fugaro: Understood. Thank you!

Keep crop region between captures

I was creating multiple GIFs of the same window area with capture and found myself having to resize the crop region repeatedly. Crop region should persist until I choose to reset/resize during the same session.

Thanks for the suggestion Marty! We'll take a look into this. In the meantime, will leave this here for others to upvote!

Thank you, Jacqueline for your feedback. Would you mind telling me a bit more about which type of screenshots were you taking that require to take the same potion of the screen every time? Thank you so much :)

@saveriol: Was there a particular use case you had in mind? I think you were the one who raised this to our team

Youcef Es-skouri: I think this could be helpful when putting together product demos and trainings to make sure all of the images are consistent in size!

Jacqueline Deprey: Got it, thank you. We will be introducing a window select mode in the next app update where you can select a specific window on your computer before taking a screenshot or screen recording. While it's not exactly what you have exactly asked for but I think it could help especially if you are taking the same windows every time.

Youcef Es-skouri: Hi Youcef! "Screenshot" for Mac has a functionality that allows you to "remember" the last selection so that every screenshot has the same size. The use case mentioned by Jacqueline is a great one. I also use it when I need to show differences between different content (for example, the slight differences that exist in some of our local homepages' footers). I also use this feature when I need to take detailed screenshots of high-res stuff that cannot be downloaded (for example, if I want to create a big map out of google maps images), and having a consistent screenshot size is the only way to re-build the image. In these cases, the selecting of a specific window as you mention above would not help. Thanks!

Saverio Ligi: Thank you so much for your feedback. This is really super helpful. I will keep this one here so that other users can see it, comment and vote. I went ahead and added your vote as well so that it's counted. Thank you :)
