Done in v95 of the app. Please update to the latest version of Capture. You can see which one you have by going into the app's Preferences.
Let us know what you think. We also added an emoji picker on the markup window!

There should be a markup tool to highlight (multiple) parts of the screenshot by drawing a rectangle or oval on the canvas and everything else gets "dimmed" or "faded" out by a transparent layer of grey with X percent of opacity.

It can be very difficult making out text in screenshots depends on the backgrounds, advanced mark up features for text could greatly aid regarding this

Add the ability to markup a screenshot using a highlight. This would be a yellow freehand drawn line (thick line) with a transparency to it so that the underlaid screenshot image would bleed through. See example from a similar product called Skitch that has been retired.

I would like to see an option that allows you to highlight text in a screenshot

Jackie Hoong Thank you so much for your feedback. Noted. If you don't mind me asking, is there a particular reason why you would like to have this background? Wondering if it's more from a design or better readability perspective. Thank you so much!

Youcef Es-skouri: You are correct--both. I use Jing/Techsmith's Capture and I really like some of their markup capabilities.
When I am writing text, I am trying to draw attention to the user why I am marking something as important and try to help them understand what I'm seeing. I do a lot of explanations/annotations to help users understand what's going on.
The screens I work on are very busy and full of text/color/etc so I need a way to draw people's eyes and have them easily digest what I'm trying to say. Red text on a blue background isn't going to work.

Jackie Hoong: Got it. makes total sense. Super helpful. Thanks again for sharing all of this. I will keep this here so that other people can chime in and vote!
